Classroom Highlights Round 2

Sometimes, it's nice not being the teacher because you are in on the 6th grade gossip!

Gossip:

• Being in on the gossip with Adriana and Dariel:

• Dariel likes Esther, who is a twin.

• Adriana teasing Dariel about whether he really likes her twin Alejandra or Esther (she bluntly asked him if he was sure he liked Esther and not Alejandra -- basically asking can he really tell them apart haha). Apparently, he hangs out more with Alejandra so people think they are dating...lol.

• Enrique likes Noelia - who was the girl this boy Ivan broke up with and caused so much the drama.

• Dariel claims Adriana is dating Kevin, which she denied but also was blushing about...who knows.

• Svetla likes Javier G and wrote about it in her penpal letter just for fun.

• Rebeca likes a guy who is 1 year older than her.

• Erika is dating Javier C.

• Andrea got mad at Ivan because he was talking to his ex -- Noelia and my teacher had to have a talk with the class about how you can't prevent someone from talking to another person.

Some highlights:

• Gonzalo always being so excited to do 2-on-1 conversation with me.

• Mateo not being excited and always protesting to do 2-on-1 conversation with me and being sassy with me -- but I know he loves me. I's so fun teasing that boy because it's all an act -- once he's in the hallway he keeps acting dramatic with his partner Oscar, but they don't stop talking so does he really hate it? I say nah.

• Mateo telling and showing me what a "Whopper" is. His partner Oscar and I were super confused what this meant. He then proceeds to lift up his shirt, bend over and scruntch his belly fat so that he makes at least 3 rolls (the two parts of the bun and the burger = Whooper). Then he proceeds to try and make Oscar do it, but Oscar doesn't have any belly fat -- in fact he is one of the few 11 year old boys who instead has a 6-pack. This makes Mateo flip out in the most hilarious way. Then their other teacher David walks past and asks what is going on, and they proceed to tell him. David and I couldn't stop laughing.

• Dariel twerked for me and his partner Adriana -- one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

• I think this boy Manuel has a crush on me because I always catch him looking at me and he always say hello and goodbye to me. ALSO he talked to me at least for 15 minutes straight during the pre-Easter break party and only stopped when other people came over to talk to me.

• Victor telling me about his life: I think he wishes we wasn't held back so he could hangout with his friends more. But I also think it's good for him to hear stories about secondary and realize that things like cocaine are not okay.

• Fixing theater Dorothy and North Witch drama - I've never done theater or drama in my life, yet this is honestly something I really don't mind doing since it's with my 6th graders. On Wednesday, my coworker Ana and I run "The Wizard of Oz" with some 6th graders. Some of the girls were getting upset at each other about splitting lines evenly and where is appropriate to come into a scene -- fixed that simply by writing in two lines to split up speaking parts more evenly.

• Kids basically begging me to do the 2-on-1 conversation with them -- makes me feel so loved by them (even though I think half the time they just want to get out of class haha)

• Daniel O. fist bumps me when he sees me

• Seeing them improve in their speaking
